Rosario Anzalone new regional director of national museums of Lombardy Italpress press agency

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Doctor Rosario Anzalone, 42 years old, is the new Director of the Regional Directorate of National Museums of Lombardy. She takes over from Dr. Emanuela Daffra who took on the role of Superintendent of the Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence, an institute of which, in recent months, she was already interim manager. The new Director, a classical archaeologist, completed his studies between Italy and Greece, with significant excavation and research experiences in Sicily and Crete. In 2016-17 he was visiting curator at the Badisches Landesmuseum Karlsruhe. Hired at the Ministry of Culture in 2017, he was responsible for the National Etruscan Museum and the archaeological area of Kainua (Marzabotto, BO) and the archaeological area of Roman Veleia (Lugagnano Val d’Arda, PC). Since 2020 he has worked as curator of the archaeological collections at the Royal Museums of Turin. Role manager since 2024, he is in his first management role. In his new role, Director Anzalone is called upon to manage the thirteen museums of the Directorate: the Cenacolo Museum in Milan, the Expiatory Chapel in Monza, the Certosa di Pavia, the National Archaeological Museum of Lomellina in Vigevano, the Archaeological Park and Antiquarium of Castelseprio, Palazzo Besta in Teglio, the Roman Villa and the Antiquarium in Desenzano del Garda, the Grotte di Catullo and the Archaeological Museum and the Scaligero Castle in Sirmione, the MUPRE – National Museum of Prehistory of the Camonica Valley in Capo di Ponte, the National Park of Rock Engravings in Naquane, Capo di Ponte, the National Archaeological Park of Massi di Cemmo and the National Archaeological Museum of Valle Camonica in Cividate Camuno. “A heritage of absolute importance, rare for its richness, charm and complexity, on which capable and motivated colleagues work. It was managed with extraordinary vision and competence by Dr. Emanuela Daffra, whom I thank and wish her the best in her new, very important role as Superintendent of the Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence. I therefore collect a precious legacy, which I undertake to cultivate and increase through team work, further consolidating the cohesion and operational capabilities of the Office so that it becomes a widespread protagonist of cultural life throughout the regional territory. Exploring and communicating with the inexhaustible heterogeneity of the public will be our watchword, pursuing a purpose of social sustainability that makes cultural heritage not only an instrument of individual elevation, but also the engine of community life and the driving force of civil growth: an authentic antidote to the loneliness of the global citizen,” declared Anzalone.
