The record-breaking DJ aims for 240 consecutive hours at the console

The 200 hour wall collapsed yesterday morning (Friday 24 May), but DJ Faber Moreira isn’t stopping, and wants to reach 240 consecutive hours at the console.

The fifty-nine year old from Saluzzo Fabrizio Morero, known on disco stages as Faber Moreira, at 5am yesterday surpassed the record of 200 hours that the Polish DJ Norberto Loco had achieved in 2014 at the Temple Bar in Dublin. In his Saluzzo, the city where he began collecting the 6,000 vinyl records that accompany him on stage, Faber Moreira has punched the ticket to enter the history of music.

A challenge that began on Wednesday 15 May, when Faber, at 9pm sharp, put the needle on Big Love by Peter Heller, starting the 10 consecutive day marathon at the Pala Crs in Saluzzo. The DJ, by regulation, can rest a maximum of 2 hours a day, which Faber Moreira divides into micro-sleeps over the course of 24 hours.

Meanwhile, 20,000 people have already come to dance. Also cheering were 70 people in the crew, 20 close collaborators, over 80 guest artists. The cameras monitor his every gesture, 15 witnesses alternate so that 2 are always present next to him, a stopwatch starts when he has to leave the console to sleep, wash or other needs. And when he rests, in the bed at the back of the stage, the giant screens warn: «shhh! The DJ is asleep!

Today and this evening (Saturday 25 May) the tension will be palpable. Lorenzo Veltri, official judge of the Guinness World Records and of the television program The Record Show with Gerry Scotti, will arrive in Saluzzo. Veltri will be able to examine the video material, check the pause register and, having verified that the entire path towards the record is in order, he will be able to immediately certify the performance.

Accompanying Faber Moreira in the evening (admission fee from 6pm) will be Enrico Giorda on vocals and 3 super guest DJs: Don Calo, 4Mina and Don Paolo and the gourmet dinner at Corona Grossa.

Once the finish line has been reached, the party will continue until late in the evening, then for Fabrizio Morero there will be a day of well-deserved rest, before the final party, scheduled for tomorrow evening, Sunday 26th. While dinner will be served from the Interno 2 restaurant, next to Faber will be performed on the console by the young DJ who won the contest and then by Anton Wave on percussion, Enrico Giorda on vocals, Dr Jeanfat with his sax and flute and as guest DJs Luca Testa and Ludovic Gosmar. Prizes will be awarded to the largest groups of dancers, the most original costumes and the most beautiful choreographies. A special prize will be awarded to whoever has danced for the greatest number of hours at night.
