Friday May 31stat 9 pm, at Politeama Theater of Catanzaro the great final event of the symphony season will be staged. L’Calabrian Philharmonic Orchestra, directed by the teacher Filippo Arliawill be the protagonist of the “Symphonic Concert”, enriched by the extraordinary participation, on the piano, of Giuseppe Andarolo.

Winner of the first prize and all the special prizes in some of the most prestigious international piano competitions (London World, Sendai International, Hong Kong International, Porto International, International “Ferruccio Busoni” of Bolzano), Andarolo is considered one of the most appreciated performers of his generation. He distinguished himself, from a very young age, with a passionate and intense concert activity, guest of important festivals and of the most prestigious halls in the world. He also holds numerous masterclasses in Italy and abroad, and has in turn been a member of the jury in important international competitions (Casagrande di Terni, Rabat Grand Prix de Piano), as well as a solo guest in various international TV programs.

The symphonic poem

Andarolo will perform at the Politeama in Concerto for piano and orchestra op 18 n 2 in C minor, composed by Sergej Rachmaninov, and which represents the turning point towards the maturity and definitive affirmation of the famous composer. Rich in pathos and post-romantic emphasis, in beautiful bursts of lyricism with which the entire piece is imbued, the concert will feature a virtuoso performer on the piano with great sensitivity. The evening will continue with Capriccio Italiano op 45, one of the most beautiful pages written by Pyotr Ilych Tchaikovsky. A symphonic poem, structured in several movements, in which the Roman stornelli emerge as the main themes, heard personally by the composer in the streets, and which make this work bright and vital, full of effects and atmosphere.

The comic operetta

Finally, the lineup will propose “Candide”, a comic operetta in two acts written by Leonard Bernstein, whose libretto originates from the French novel of the same name by the Enlightenmentist Voltaire. The Calabria Philharmonic Orchestra will perform the overture, a lively and innovative piece that ranges from classical to jazz, up to musical, and characterized by a rousing tune and an exciting rhythm.
You can access the evening with a single ticket at the price of 10 euros. For information, consult the portal www.politeamacatanzaro.net or contact the number 0961501818.
