Catania-Avellino, threats at the entrance to the stadium: Daspo for four Etna fans

After the Catania-Avellino football match, played last May 21st at the Angelo Massimino stadium and valid for the national phase of the Serie C playoffs, the Police Chief of the Etna capital issued the Daspo against four Sicilian fans. For three of them, the preventive measure was adopted for “their behavior during the pre-filtering operations during which, to escape control, they threatened the security personnel and the policemen on public order duty”. One of the three, who among other things had already served two previous Daspo sentences, «not only did he lack the identity documents necessary to access the stadium, but he was invited to deposit a lighter that could not be brought inside, he threw it at the agent who was trying to convince him.” For this reason, in addition to being reported, the repeat offender was given an eight-year Daspo, with the obligation to report to a police office before, during and after the matches in which Catania will be involved. The provision was validated by the investigating judge at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office.

The other two fans, in addition to being reported by the Digos of the Police Headquarters, will not be able to access the places where sporting events are held for two years. For the same period, the fourth fan who, at the end of the match, escaped the control of the security staff by crossing the fence and invading the pitch in an attempt to reach the players who were returning to the changing rooms will not be able to attend the sports facilities. Attempt interrupted by Digos policemen who reported him for invading the pitch.
