The “City Partner Fis” project has been renewed until 2026: the collaboration between the Municipality of Terni and the Terni Fencing Club continues

A few days ago, the municipal council of Terni approved the renewal of the “City Partner FIS” project, a memorandum of understanding between the Municipality of Terni and the Italian Fencing Federation (FIS). This protocol, which has deep roots, was signed for the first time in February 2015, when FIS presented the “FIS City Partner” project to the city of Terni. Since then, Terni has become a privileged location for events related to the world of fencing, with significant economic and image benefits.

Among the prominent events, we remember the 2018 European Paralympic Fencing Championships and the recent Terni 2023 Paralympic Fencing World Championships, as well as the frequent national and international competitions that take place every year at the facilities in our area. The specific agreement with Terni guarantees at least two national and international level fencing competitions every year, attracting thousands of people and bringing well-known testimonials of the Italian national fencing team to the city.

This will allow the Terni Fencing Club to continue to organize important sporting events, further strengthening the presence of fencing in our city and in the region. The president of the Terni Fencing Club, Alberto Tiberi, declared himself very satisfied with the work carried out by the top managers of the Federation, together with the Sports Councilor of the Municipality of Terni, Marco Schenardi, for having renewed such an important agreement.

The collaboration between the Municipality and the Terni Fencing Club not only promotes the sport at a local level, but also contributes to consolidating Terni as a center of excellence for fencing at a national and international level. President Alberto Tiberi commented: “With the signing of the ‘FIS City Partner’ by the highest representatives of the Municipality of Terni and the Italian Fencing Federation, the Mayor Stefano Bandecchi and the President Paolo Azzi, a new an adventure that will very soon lead us to organize another world-class event in Terni, who knows… probably even more important and prestigious than the Paralympic Fencing World Championship which ended in October 2023.”
