Today there is fear of possible unrest due to the demonstrations in the centre. While tomorrow there is the Giro d’Italia which stops in Rome, where the arrival of 70 thousand people is also expected for the World Children’s Day announced by the Pope with the gathering, between today and tomorrow, first at the Olympic stadium and then in St. Peter’s. Thus, between closures and limitations, it promises to be a complicated weekend for the Capitoline roads.

Let’s start with today’s demonstrations. The first, which will take place from 2.30pm to 8pm, is the one promoted by the “Non una di meno” movement for the complete implementation of law 194 on abortion. The procession will start from Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II to reach the end of the route in Piazza Bocca della Verità, crossing, among others, Via Merulana, Piazza del Colosseo, Via di San Gregorio and Via dei Cerchi. But there are also fears of disorder for the rally promoted by Ultima Generazione which will be held today in Piazza Barberini starting at 4pm.

PREVIOUS
In recent months, the environmentalist movement has been the protagonist of various acts of vandalism, some of which are quite recent: from the interruption of traffic on the Muro Torto (about thirty people reported for this) to the defacement of some shops in via Condotti. And so this time too there is the fear of possible actions. Also for today, from 3pm to 8pm, another procession promoted by collectives and social centers is planned to protest against the Government (and in particular the decrees on rave parties), with departure and arrival at the Settimia Spizzichino Bridge. Approximately 500 people are expected to attend.

THE FINAL Sprint
Tomorrow, however, Rome will be tinged with pink for the final stage of the Giro d’Italia. For the last flight, departure is expected around 3.30pm from Eur while the arrival should be around 6.30pm in via di San Gregorio. Thousands of enthusiasts and onlookers are expected on the streets of Rome for what will be the sixth time of the Giro in the capital, the second in a row. The route will pass through the Ostia seafront, cross Via dei Fori Imperiali, and then cut towards Piazza Venezia, Via del Plebiscito, Corso Vittorio, Largo di Torre Argentina. The first changes to traffic will take effect at 8pm today with the closure of part of Via del Circo Massimo.

70 thousand people are expected in the city for the first World Children’s Day announced by Pope Francis. Today the first celebration will take place at the Olympic stadium (gates open at 12.30, conclusion of the event around 18.30). For this reason, from 7 am, part of the Lungotevere Maresciallo Diaz, the Duca d’Aosta bridge and the Lungotevere Cadorna will be closed to traffic in both directions. Also for Children’s Day, another event is planned tomorrow in St. Peter’s, with Pope Francis who will preside over the midday Angelus. Also tomorrow the monthly free Sunday opening of the Vatican Museums is scheduled: thousands of visitors are also expected in this case.

THE MATCH
Finally, tomorrow there will be the usual limitations in the area of the Olympic Stadium for the last day of the championship, with the match between Lazio and Sassuolo, which will also see a tribute to the former Biancocelesti coach Sven Goran Eriksson. Kick-off at 8.45pm. Finally, the closure of via dei Castani (in the Centocelle area, between piazza dei Mirti and via dei Glicini) began yesterday and continues until tomorrow to make room for the street food festival. The road will remain closed until 12pm on Monday to allow the dismantling of the structures. Piazza Sempione was also partially closed until Sunday evening for a parish celebration.
