The mayor of Loreto Aprutino Renato Mariotti proclaimed city mourning on the occasion of the funeral of Mauro Di Zio, former mayor and former provincial councilor who died following a long illness on May 22nd. The funeral will be held on May 24th from 3 pm in the church of San Pietro:

“On Wednesday 22 May, our fellow citizen and mayor emeritus Mauro Di Zio passed away from the affections of his loved ones. Considering the profound feeling that the entire citizenry retains towards his person as a just man and that much of his energies he dedicated to good of our community, the mayor proclaimed city mourning for Friday 24 May 2024, on the occasion of the funeral of our fellow citizen Mauro Di Zio, as a sign of profound respect and participation in the pain and in order to allow initiatives for reflection and to participate in the funeral ceremony.
For the occasion, flags will be displayed at half-mast on the buildings of public and private bodies, including school buildings of all levels, the events scheduled for the same day will be suspended and the carrying out of recreational, recreational and other activities will be prohibited. other behavior that contrasts with the mournful nature of the day. Furthermore, the temporary closure of all commercial establishments, businesses and craft activities is ordered during the funeral, from 3 pm to 6 pm, with the exception of those activities, including the pharmacy, which must guarantee essential services, and public establishments, for the sole purpose of guaranteeing sanitation services and the possibility of refreshment for the participants in the funeral rite.” Di Zio, as well as mayor since 1993 to 2004 and provincial councilor from 2004 to 2009, he was also regional president of the CIA and national vice-president of the farmers’ association.
