drawing money from public employees is not a solution – Radio L’Aquila 1

L’AQUILA – “The desire on the part of this regional government to go against the negative opinion of the auditors regarding the plan to refinance the healthcare deficit appears both risky and the result of a total lack of responsibility on a political level. Trying to cover this deficit by drawing on the TFR/TFS funds of Abruzzo Region employees also demonstrates the total absence of a virtuous project through which to make up for the financial disaster that the Marsilio government has generated. A dangerous and alarming prospect from both a technical and political point of view. The words of Councilor Gatti are also worrying, suggesting that there will be linear cuts to healthcare in Abruzzo”.

I declare it Erika Alessandrini And Francesco Taglieri, regional councilors of the 5 Star Movement, on the sidelines of the Regional Council which took place today. The meeting, preceded in the morning by the session of the First Commission in which the 128 million euro hole in the Region’s coffers was debated, saw stiff opposition from the Five Star Councillors.

“The Councilor Nicoletta Verì insists on describing a perfectly functioning and efficient healthcare system to the point of not having any type of problem and being taken as a model by other regions too. A narrative of convenience, biased and blind to the reality that the people of Abruzzo live every day and which is characterized by poor services, critical issues at all levels and serious difficulties in having the right to treatment recognised. There are 186 million euros of passive mobility, we are losing over 40 million euros of active mobility, entire hospital facilities are dying due to a series of wicked actions implemented by this regional administration and the Verì, rejected at the polls by the voters but promoted by the his political leaders, he struggles to praise the corporate strategic directions, guilty of much of this disaster. Not only does he applaud them but he even reconfirmed them as a reward for the work done. From Councilor Verì and Councilor Quaglieri we have not heard a single concrete proposal on how to close this financial chasm they themselves created, but only and exclusively a total discharge of responsibility, as if managing, in the last five years, we if it had been someone else and not them.”

“What we’re talking about is a structural deficit that they were perfectly aware of as early as the third quarter of 2023 but which they chose to ignore to prioritize their political action. A hole that they attempted to justify with investments aimed at strengthening healthcare in the four provinces but which, instead, found no confirmation in reality, as services have dramatically worsened in the area where they have not directly disappeared. Now, in a vain attempt to stop this budget hemorrhage, instead of preparing a strategic plan to replenish the coffers, they are trying to stem it by resorting to an emergency action such as drawing on the money of public employees: total madness. They chose to ignore the negative opinion of the technical body which explicitly clarified that this law does not have the legs to walk: going against this indication is a political responsibility and a financial responsibility that this centre-right majority has chosen to take on”.
