Between the night and the morning of today (Friday 24 May), between the provinces of Cuneo and Asti, the Carabinieri of the Albano company, supported by colleagues from the Asti provincial command and the Mondovì company, identified and blocked eight people , executing an order of precautionary custody under house arrest and subjection to the obligation to report to the judicial police issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Asti, at the request of the local Public Prosecutor’s Office, against six people (all Italian citizens, residents in the Asti area), in addition to the complaint for two other people. All are accused of complicity in the theft of copper and ferrous material.
From the “Copper” investigation launched last October, their involvement in the commission of thefts of copper and steel had emerged, to the detriment of a school complex, a shopping center and private homes, in Santo Stefano Belbo and in Asti municipalities. Six hits attributed to the gang, for a loot estimated between 50 and 70,000 euros: “The investigations – report the Carabinieri – have shown how the suspects, with precise division of well-defined roles and tasks, reached the place to be plundered on board two cars and with extreme rapidity they removed the material of interest both outside and inside the building, in the latter case forcing doors and windows to gain access”.
