The Arezzo CGIL is collecting signatures on the 4 referendums on work. “We are already at 3,000 – announces the provincial secretary Alessandro Tracchi. Until the month of July we will continue to be present in the squares, at events and in the markets. An extraordinary commitment for which I want to thank the workers and pensioners but also the “certifiers” of the signatures who made themselves available. Obviously you can sign at our local offices and also online on the website www.cgil.it”.
The CGIL recalls the reasons for the 4 referendums. “Work in Italy is too precarious and wages are too low. Three people die working every day. The result of twenty years of wrong laws is a clear worsening of the living and working conditions of people who have to work to live. It’s time to rebel and change. Work must be protected because it is a constitutional right. It must be safe because you have to live and not die from work. It must be dignified and therefore well paid. It must be stable because precariousness is a loss of freedom.”
The first question (protected employment) has the objective of abolishing the entire Jobs Act (legislative decree 23 of 2015), providing for the “repeal of the rules that prevent reinstatement to work in the event of illegitimate dismissals”.
The second (decent work) focuses on situations with fewer than 15 employees, proposing the “repeal of the rules that facilitate illegitimate dismissals in small businesses”.
With the third question (Stable Work) we want to put a stop to precariousness, providing for the “repeal of the rules that have liberalized the use of fixed-term work”.
The fourth and final question (safe work) asks for the “repeal of the rules that prevent, in the event of an accident at work in contracts, extending the liability to the contracting company”.
