On 25 and 26 May 2024 at Italian Naval League of Salerno 3rd edition of the Open Day: the usual event of practical sailing, canoeing, rowing, fishing and trekking activities this year includes a special closing ceremony on Sunday 26th at 6pm to name the nautical base after Fabrizio Marottapresident of the association who passed away last January.

The headquarters of the Italian Naval League of Salerno at Porto Masuccio Salernitano (Piazza della Concordia) for two days becomes a huge village dedicated to activities related to the sea for the third edition of the Open Day: regardless of age, everyone will be able to find themselves in the spirit of the Italian Naval League which has been committed to promoting maritime culture and the values ​​of the sea for over 125 years. The initiative aims to raise awareness of the association and its activities which include sailing, canoeing, rowing, sport fishing and hiking. The activities, projects and training courses will be illustrated, with distribution of gadgets and information material. For the occasion, visitors will be able to participate for free the demonstration of all sporting activities with the support of the instructors and the use of means made available by the section and its members.

This year the Open Day will open with a tribute to Fabrizio Marotta which will feature numerous sea enthusiasts who will sail together in memory of the passion and commitment of the late president of the Naval League, an expert and sensitive sailor, always committed to giving possibility for the younger and less fortunate to get closer to the sea and practice the sports disciplines linked to it. The marine walk will take place on Saturday 25th starting from 10 am.

Even at the end of the Open Day, on Sunday 26th at 6pm, there will be a special moment: the plaque naming the nautical base of the section after the figure of Fabrizio Marotta will be unveiled. The national president of the Italian Naval League, Admiral, will speak at the ceremony Donato Marzanothe president of the Campania Region Vincenzo De Lucathe deputy mayor of the Municipality of Salerno Paky Memoli and the commander of the Coast Guard Attilio Maria Daconto. During the evening, the new board of directors of the section, elected in April and chaired by, will be presented Francesco Bavosa and awards will be given to senior members and athletes who distinguished themselves in the relevant sports disciplines last year. Grand musical finale at 8pm open to all in the splendid setting of the headquarters at Porto Masuccio Salernitano, in Piazza della Concordia.

We wish, in particular, to bring together associations, bodies, schools, families, children, young and old, beyond their social condition, starting from the spirit of aggregation of our association. For 112 years our goal has been to encourage people to get closer to the sea through the practice of nautical sports, following the canons of solidarity boating and protecting the marine environment”.
