Eighty euros and 40 cents per square meter per year is the average request for a rental home in Taranto. Practically almost unchanged (+ 0.63%), however, the cost of rent compared to 79.9 euros per square meter per year compared to the three months preceding the 1st quarter of 2024.
This is what emerged from a study by the Locare research office, an innovative SME that deals with real estate rentals, carried out on large Italian cities and those in the province. Data that speaks of increasing rents but with some exceptions, such as Taranto, in fact. “While in the regional capitals and more generally in large cities – explains Andrea Napoli, CEO of the company – in the first quarter of 2024 there was a general increase in rental prices, in the province the trends are much more varied and at different speeds, although the growth rate is slower than that recorded in previous months. If the fees rise in Brescia, Reggio Calabria and Matera, they fall in Pordenone, Parma and Sassari”.
The topic of high rents has occupied the pages of newspapers and news reports on many occasions in recent months. The increase in rental demand in 2023, which influenced the trend of increasing rental costs, followed the events of the high mortgage prices which, in turn, soared following the rate increase policy of the European Central Bank .
With the end of the increase in official rates last year and with the growing expectation of future monetary easing, which according to estimates is likely to be expected from the end of the summer, the residential sales market has gradually normalized.
