POTENZA – Record numbers for the 2024 edition of the Historic Turks’ Parade, presented by the Councilor for Culture and the members of the Scientific Technical Committee, during the press conference. Great attention to inclusiveness and safety, with the involvement of institutions, law enforcement, health workers, volunteers, 12 associations, for an organizational machine that has established a format, thanks to which it will be possible to plan the activities planned in this future which is the most important time of the year for the regional capital, in a faster and safer way. There will be well over one hundred thousand presences in the city, as part of the celebrations which will culminate with the Historic Parade of the Turks on the 29th and with the procession of the Patron Saint on Thursday 30th May. Over a thousand figures distributed in the three historical paintings, of which 28 knights, more than 800 clothes delivered up to today, the last day on which the participants in the historical procession will be able to collect them, thanks to the uninterrupted work of municipal employees, volunteers and tailors who , without stopping, have operated in recent weeks. Three areas reserved for people with disabilities in Viale Marconi at the intersection with Via Viviani, in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II (Piazza 18 Agosto) and in Piazza Mario Pagano. Three giant screens in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II (Piazza 18 Agosto), Piazza Mario Pagano and Piazza Matteotti. 28 control staff, 100 civil protection volunteers, 60 health workers, 48 ​​along the route divided into 14 crews, 3 doctors, 3 medical vehicles, 4 ambulances, 35 volunteers who will keep the procession together and guarantee the safety of those who parade and of those who attend the show. At 3 pm the influx will begin at the Viviani stadium, where the different groups participating will be organized and will arrange themselves in the same order in which they will exit into Viale Marconi at 7 pm. The route will be the one followed in recent years: viale Marconi, viale Dante, via Vaccaro, corso Umberto I, via Pretoria, piazza Mario Pagano, piazza Matteotti, largo Duomo. Before the lighting of the Iaccara, scheduled in Piazza Matteotti at around 11pm, the procession will reach the cathedral churchyard to receive the bishop’s blessing. From 25th to 30th May Piazza Mario Pagano will be home to concerts and food and wine stands, with shows included in the ‘May Potentino’, which will be performed on the stage of the Stabile theater and the Malvaccaro social centre, and the closing on 30th May with a concert in honor of the Patron Saint Gerard. A notable organizational commitment which saw the allocation of regional funding amounting to 280,000 euros, 150,000 for the Turks’ Parade.
