Nighttime theft at the Fratticioli shop in Perugia, using a car as a battering ram

In the middle of the night, just before 5am, two thieves committed a robbery at the Fotostore di Fratticioli shop in via Piccolpasso in Perugia. Using a Mercedes Class A as a battering ram, the criminals managed to break down the gate alarmed and smash the shop window. The alarm immediately activated a smoke gas security system, but the thieves did not stop and entered the shop, stealing a significant amount of photographic equipment.

Their loot includes several telephoto lenses, lenses, cameras and some cameras. The damages caused by the break-in, added to the value of the stolen goods, amount to a total of approximately 80 thousand euros.

Once inside, despite the audible alarm and the presence of gas which limited visibility, the thieves continued their action. They were equipped with four black duffel bags and a crowbar, found inside the store.

The entire theft lasted just one minute and thirty seconds, as the thieves were disturbed by a person who, having heard the noises, started screaming, forcing them to flee hastily. Because of this interruption, they were unable to take away everything they had planned to steal, but the damage was still extensive.

It’s the first time the Fratticioli photo store suffers a theft of this type. The last similar episode in the Piazza Italia shop dates back to 2012. The Perugia Carabinieri intervened on the scene and immediately started investigations to identify those responsible.

Authorities are reviewing security camera footage and gathering testimony in an attempt to rebuild exactly the dynamics of the facts and track down the culprits.
