Sanremo. The eleventh edition of the Green Game, the educational project promoted by the National Consortia for the Collection, Recycling and Recovery of organic packaging (BIOREPACK), aluminum (CIAL), paper and cardboard (COMIECO) concluded with great success on Wednesday. , plastic (COREPLA), glass (COREVE) and steel (RICREA) which reached its climax with a spectacular and exciting Grand Final. Over 100 secondary schools from all over Italy challenged each other by fielding the best classes which, from October to February, brilliantly passed the preliminary round.

Italian Green Game 2024 champions are the boys and girls of the 2nd A of the IIS “Bernalda Ferrandina” of Ferrandina (MT) who triumphed, fully deserving the title of Italian champions. Their extraordinary result is a sign of impeccable preparation and constant commitment. The second place was won by the students of the 2nd E of the “Giandomenico Cassini” State High School of Sanremo (IM), while the bronze medal was awarded to the 2nd B of the IIS “G. Peano” of Marsico Nuovo (PZ).

The IIS “Levi” in Garaguso and Grassano, the Liceo Scienze Umane and the Liceo Scientifico di “Carlo Levi” in Tricarico and the IIS “Morra” and the IT “Loperfido Olivetti” in Matera also obtained excellent placements. The Green Game tangibly shows the importance of environmental education and responsible recycling. The young participants demonstrated in-depth knowledge of separate waste collection and recycling practices, as well as a strong commitment to environmental sustainability. This initiative offered them the opportunity to put their skills into practice, stimulating creativity and promoting a conscious approach to the use of resources.

The Green Game represents an important point of reference for Italian schools, this year it involved 48,000 students throughout Italy, encouraging the training of a new generation of aware and responsible citizens, ready to face the environmental challenges of the future. The commitment of the National Consortia and the teachers involved was fundamental to the success of this competition, which demonstrated how environmental education can be fun, engaging and effective.

On the stage of the event the official trainers of the Green Game Alvin Crescini and Stefano Leva together with the representatives of the Consortiums Gennaro Galdo for Cial, Claudia Rossi for Comieco, Chiara Caporizzo and Andrea Campelli for Corepla, Elena Ferrari for Coreve and Roccandrea Iascone for Ricrea who have supported, cheered and encouraged the kids during the event.

«The enthusiasm of the children was truly engaging and at times exciting – declared the representatives of the National Consortia – In recent years, the Green Game has proven to be much more than an educational project: it is an educational opportunity for schools and young people students from all over Italy. Its mission is to promote greater environmental awareness, educating future citizens on the importance of correct waste management and recycling. Thousands of students, teachers and families were involved, transforming the way environmental education is perceived.”

Present at the National Final of the Green Game, representing Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, the Deputy Chief of Staff Gen. Massimiliano Conti who expressed his thanks to the schools from all over Italy who participated in the National Final. His appreciation for the commitment and dedication of young people towards environmental sustainability underlines the importance that institutions attribute to initiatives such as the Green Game, which encourage the training of citizens who are aware and active in the environmental sector.

The schools on the podium will be rewarded with purchase vouchers for teaching materials or equipment worth €750.00 for the 1st place, €500.00 for the 2nd and €250.00 for the 3rd. Green Game enjoys the patronage of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security.
