False ceiling panels collapse at Omar: “Infiltration is to blame”

Yesterday morning, Thursday 23 May 2024, some ceiling panels at the Omar collapsed: no one was injured.

The clarifications of the Province

With respect to the breakage of four false ceiling panels in building A of the ITI “Omar” in Novara, which occurred yesterday, Thursday 23 May, the School Building Service of the Province of Novara would like to point out first of all that the technicians and the company in charge of maintenance, once informed by the School, intervened within a short time to verify, remedy the inconvenience and secure the area of the building concerned, which is currently usable in complete safety. It was an episode linked to an infiltration problem exacerbated by the heavy rainfall of recent months.

It is important to remember that the Omar Iti was not only immediately the subject of investments by the Institution and the recipient of a regional tender for the restoration of the damage that occurred in 2023 in “Sleeve C”, currently the subject of scrutiny by the Superintendence , but in recent years it has been one of the schools in which several construction sites have been started to guarantee, in addition to safety, new spaces available to students. This goes beyond individual incidents and reported problems, to resolve which the Province has always intervened promptly.
