Numerous representatives of the world of associations, together with the four mayoral candidates, responded to the appeal of the “Il Dono” bookshop and the Mauritian International Academy to meet under what has officially become since yesterday, complete with a plaque of the Campania Region, ” Monumental Tree”.

Professor Fortunato Allegro, responsible for “Il Dono”, declares himself very satisfied: “In the name of the anti-mafia and Falcone we have brought together the healthy part of the city both from the world of volunteering and politics, reiterating the role that Magnolia has been playing for 8 years has as its unifying symbol the fight against criminal malfeasance. I thank those who made the creation of the Magnolia flowerbed possible. Starting with the Municipality technician, architect Diego Diana, and the former councilor Elena Caterino who immediately collaborated on the initiative. A heartfelt thank you to my friend engineer Ortensio Falco, sponsor always attentive to social issues with the Mauritian International Academy of the realization of this great little undertaking.

I thank the Sma Campania company which allowed four of its good employees to set up an artistic protective fence for the flowerbed. I thank ‘Gli Amici di San Francesco’ with Don Pasqualino for their willingness to take care of the flowerbed together with the Dono volunteers. I thank the schools who will take their students on educational tours of our city to honor the Magnolia also using the QRcode which tells how the bookshop saved it by adopting it and twinning it with that of Palermo thanks to Judge Falcone’s sister. I thank Professor Terry Barbato, Dono volunteer and good Nostos actress, who read three beautiful poems, and my friend Franco Milone for reading the passage from Falcone’s book. A thought also goes to our friend Valerio Taglione, who inspired many souls in our city to care for the common good. Yesterday you were there too!”.

At the suggestion of the doyen of Aversa architecture, Umberto Panarella, the cataloging of other trees in the city was also proposed which also deserve to become “Monumental Trees” and symbols of other enhancing values of civil life. “The serenity with which the four mayoral candidates discussed with the citizens at the end of the ceremony gives us hope that the proposal can materialise”, commented Professor Allegro, inviting all citizens, from today onwards, to take a photo close to to Magnolia, posting it on social media even with a simple phrase as a comment or suggestion for other initiatives.
