Eremito is the latest born from the creative and entrepreneurial mind of Marcello Murzilli, a precursor of a new philosophy of Green tourism for decades: in the 1980s Marcello created the ‘El Charro’ brand, a fashion house; he later decided to travel the world on a historic sailing vessel and landed on the Mexican Pacific coast, building and managing the Hotelito for 14 years, an eco-resort awarded in London as ‘One of the top five EcoResort in the World’ . Once back in Italy, he inaugurates Eremito, making it soon become a point of reference for luxury tourism for ‘Solo Traveller’, which today is chosen by people from all over the world, driven by the need to detach themselves from technology and reconnect with themselves, in nature , rediscovering the Luxury of the Essential.

Eco resort It is a secular and contemporary hermitage located in Parrano, in the Orvieto area, surrounded by over 3,000 hectares of UNESCO nature reserve, now certified B Corp: it is the first Eco Resort in Italy certified by B Lab (US non-profit organisation). «Achieving B Corp certification is the tangible result of a company’s commitment to adopting the high B Lab standards to measure, improve and promote social, environmental and governance practices. This is what we mean by achieving a concrete impact on people and the environment. We are proud to welcome Eremito within the B Corp movement, and we hope that his commitment can be an inspiration for the B Corp community and for other companies that want to start this path towards regenerative paradigms” commented Anna Puccio, managing director of B Lab Italia.

Hermit The original structure was recovered with attention to historical details and sustainability, supported by Matteo Murzilli, who also coordinated and followed the entire B Corp certification process: photovoltaic system covering over 100% of consumption, heating and cooling systems on the floor, solar thermal systems and a tracking solar concentrator. The building has an A4 energy class and irrigation takes place via collected rainwater. The vegetarian restaurant uses self-produced and local organic products, minimizing waste and promoting Plastic Free practices. The B Corp certification is a further recognition of Eremito’s commitment towards a more sustainable future, confirming its pioneering role in the Italian hotel industry and demonstrating how it is possible to combine high quality hospitality and concrete commitment to social responsibility. Eremito with its recent certification further strengthens Italy’s position in the global sustainable hospitality panorama.
