Appreciated participation of the municipal administration of Taranto in the final day of the 2024 edition of the “Forum PA”, the national event held in Rome and focused on the process of modernization of territorial governance and the management of local public services following the increasingly growing digital transformations.
Illustrating how the Ionian capital is facing its process of change following the lines dictated by the “Taranto Ecosystem” plan, the urban, environmental, economic and social regeneration program strongly desired by the mayor Rinaldo Melucci, was the municipal councilor for the Environment , Stefania Fornaro, who during her speech explained how the “city of the two seas”, despite often being associated with the uncertain future of the steel plant, is trying to transform itself into a sustainable community, into a real “smart city ”.
The cornerstone on which to focus to achieve this objective is certainly the “Calliope Project” which, through the constant monitoring of our ecosystem and in line with the provisions of the Just Transition and the European Green Deal, understands health as a balance between the conditions of human beings , environmental matrix and animal world.
Starting from this premise, “Calliope” aims to build a structure that can provide research results in the “one health” field, making them available for training, communication and also productive purposes, through so-called emerging technologies such as 5G, ” block chain”, artificial intelligence and the so-called “internet of things”.
During the round table, Councilor Fornaro spoke about the potential of the “super computer”, the “Urban Health” initiative at the BAC, the “Calliope Citizens” platform, and the tangible results in terms of innovation always expressed so far from a project that aroused the interest of the Forum participants both for its enormous potential and for the advantages for the community.
