In April the Municipality of Rho asked a specialized company to intervene immediately on two outbreaks in via Cadorna and via Leopardi, to carry out the mechanical removal and destruction of the branches covered by the insects. Now the Ecology Office is tackling some new outbreaks with innovative methods while its presence is reported by the appropriate office of the Lombardy Region along the entire via Achille Grandi (in the area of the Rho Fiera underground and train station). In particular the insect attacks Morus alba, Morus nigra and Liquidambar styraciflua as well as hackberry, hornbeam and maples.

A study conducted by the LEAA (Agroblu applied entomology laboratory) and Verdeblu Srl in collaboration with the University of Milan aims to use antagonistic predators of the Coccidae.
