Bari, Waterpolo enters the playoff final for promotion to Serie A

Waterpolo Bari flies to the final. The red and whites also won Game 2 against Cus Palermo (18 to 13) and qualified for the final match of the playoffs of the national water polo series B to reach Serie A. The boys coached by Paolo Baiardini effectively led the match in the Sicilian pool for all four fractions, taking off in the last quarter which sealed a clear and deserved victory, which followed last Saturday’s home win in Game 1.

Captain Gigi Foglio and his teammates are therefore now awaiting the winner between Roma 2000 and Napoli Lions, on Saturday 1 June in Santa Maria Capua Vetere (where Waterpolo plays their home matches due to the unavailability of the Swimming Stadium), for the first match. A qualification for the final which therefore arrives early for the red and white caps, without the need to face the third match against the Sicilians, which should have been played next Saturday.

A result that allows the boys to catch their breath and train in the best possible way to face the promotion matches. After the back and forth of the first three halves, with Waterpolo always ready to take the lead, Baiardini’s boys managed to definitively break their opponents’ resistance in the last half in which they managed to take off with a partial of their own favor of 7 to 3. Sifanno scored with six goals, Foglio with four, Corallo, Davide Lamacchia and Moretti with two, Di Pasquale and Andrea Lamacchia with one each.

Baiardini was visibly satisfied at the end of the race. “Compliments must be given to the boys – underlines the red and white coach at the end of the match – who managed to achieve a goal that was unthinkable just three years ago. From the playout final to the playoff final. An incredible ride. Full of difficulties, sacrifices, commitment and constant will. We expected a demanding and physical match and so it was but we did well to stay focused for all four halves. From today we must already be thinking about the most important matches of the season and they will clearly be the most challenging from all points of view, athletic, technical, tactical and mental. We don’t yet know who our opponent will be but we shouldn’t care either. We will wait for anyone trying to improve further“.
