Rimini-Vis Pesaro: Romagna against Marche

In the Serie C, Group B championship, the only verdict that is already certain four days before the end of the championship is direct promotion to the second division of Cesena,
achieved with the victory in the home match against Pescara, a goal also favored by Torres’ defeat on the pitch the previous day
of Gubbio. The hot zone of the standings is decidedly more indecipherable, where Olbia and Fermana from the Marche region are at risk of relegation, while the playout risk also involves other teams from the Marche region such as Recanatese, Ancona and Vis Pesaro playing today at the home of Rimini who, having overcome the initial difficulties of the season thanks to the care of Mr. Troise, he is looking with confidence at reaching the playoff zone.

Always a very heartfelt match given the short distance that separates the two cities, less than 50 km which makes it a sort of inter-regional derby,
Romagna against Marche. Certainly in the 90s there was more popular participation, it was the classic match that no one wanted to skip, in which both corners showed off worthy choreography and, obviously, there was no shortage of the classic chants of teasing throughout the match; the prerogative of the times were the processions from the station to the stadium which were easily granted to both sets of fans before the safety psychosis degenerated.

Among those faded memories, the last of the brightest is undoubtedly that of the 2004/05 season, which saw the Rimini players travel to Pesaro three times, the first canceled out by the impracticability of the pitch; the second saw the suspension of the championships due to the sudden death of Pope John Paul II when the Romagna fans had already left, finally and finally the recovery in midweek, with a truly remarkable following in numerical terms which consecrated the supremacy of Rimini, shortly promoted to Serie B where he lived his best years, while Vis Pesaro, on the contrary, experienced the double shame of relegation and restart from the Promotion due to financial defaults.

Returning to current events, there are over 350 fans Vissini who take their places in the guest sector, behind the representation pieces VG 1979, Port 1982, 1898, Youth etc. They united from the moment they entered, keeping their ranks close throughout the match.

Nothing particular from a choreographic point of view at the start of the match, the Pesaro team colors the sector by exposing their scarves to the simultaneous waving of flags, the home Curva Est opts for a more canonical hands in the air and singing support for the team, while various torches are lit several times during the ninety minutes of play, they carry out the chromatic task.

In the first half, a banner commemorated Beppuccio, a friend of the East who recently passed away, manager of a bar in the historic center, a usual place for
meeting and drinking with the kids from the Rimini area.

Both on the pitch and in the stands the match was pleasant and lively, Rimini, in a better position in the standings, can afford to play more calmly, while Vis Pesaro, on whose bench Roberto Stellone has just arrived, would vitally need points to interrupt the streak of defeats and recover from a ranking that was, to say the least, deficient. Despite all football talk, from the away sector the Pesaro fans do their best to push the team onto the pitch, showing off an overall very good cheering performance. In the second half they too display a banner, in this case of closeness to their long-time friends from Pistoiese, whose team shortly thereafter and in spite of their best wishes, will not even be able to finish the championship. Yet another banner, of a completely different character, is raised in the Curva Est to greet the return of the banned players, five long years after the trip to Teramo in 2019.

When the match seemed like it could end in stalemate, it was the Rimini striker Ubaldi who, as soon as he came on as a substitute, put his header into the opponent’s goal and left the many Vis fans disheartened by the defeat, who were already trusting in an important point. The entire Romagna team is therefore celebrating and with it its fans who ideally join together to celebrate with songs, dances and chants of encouragement.
