“What Environmental Policy for Europe?”, meeting in Busto Arsizio with Action

On Thursday 23 May at 6.15 pm, at Villa Tovaglieri in Busto Arsizio, a meeting promoted by Azione su will be held “Which environmental policy for Europe”. During the event, the professor’s book “I’ll give you the Green Deal” will be presented Giuseppe Zollino, Action candidate in the European elections.

The European Green Deal, the thirty-year action plan for the ecological transition and the fight against pollution, proposed by the European Commission in December 2019, has sparked discussions for its ideological approach, which neglects technological neutrality. This principle allows you to choose the most appropriate technology to achieve the set objectives. Action proposes to reform the Green Deal by reviewing numbers, technologies, deadlines and funding sources, taking into account the specific impact analyzes for each member state.

Action also intends to review the timetable for low-emission vehicles. The ban on the sale of combustion engine cars starting from 2035 does not take into account various technical problems. Furthermore, Action proposes to make the Green Homes Directive more flexibleeliminating minimum performance objectives and giving priority to optimal energy efficiency based on costs, preventing renovation costs from exceeding the savings on the bill.

They will speak at the Villa Tovaglieri debate Fabrizio Benzoni, Member of the Italian Parliament and Lombard Regional Secretary of Action, e Giuseppe Zollino, Professor of Technology and Economics of Energy and Nuclear Plants at the University of Padua and candidate in the European Elections for Action. Professor Zollino, author of over 90 publications on energy technologies and scenarios, will present his latest book “I’ll give you the Green Deal!”, a contribution for a sustainable approach to the energy transition.

“The topic of environmental and energy transition – underlined Franco Binaghi, secretary of Action for the province of Varese – will be one of the main themes of the next European Parliament. We think that the entire current structure of the Green Deal needs to be reformed. Bringing skills like that of Professor Zollino to Europe represents a great advantage for the country.”

The initiative is free to access until seats are filled.
