Today, Tuesday 21 May, the administration presented ‘Faenza, Faïence, bicycles towards the Tour de France’, initiatives linked to the historic passage of the second stage in Italy of the 111th edition of the Grande Boucle ‘Cesenatico-Bologna’, in plan Sunday 30 June and which will cross the heart of the city pedaling along the streets loved by Marco Pantani, among extraordinary landscapes and on routes surrounded by history, art and charm. To highlight the event and enhance the Faenza area in its many aspects linked to cycling, the municipal administration and the Faentina Cycling Society, led by Raffaele Babini, invited numerous cycling champions of yesterday and today from Romagna Faentina. They will be the protagonists of a major exhibition which, curated by the artist Oscar Dominguez and the Union staff, will see the light in the Salone dell’Arengo of Palazzo del Podestà in Faenza. Here an exhibition of cultural, historical and sporting value will be proposed which will see the bicycle as the protagonist. Visitors will be able to admire, in a one-of-a-kind exhibition, not only the bicycles on which the champions of our territory rode, but also the shirts they wore, photos of the time and much other unpublished material.

An area of ​​the exhibition will also offer a selection of ‘two-wheelers’ belonging to Vincenzo Collina’s collection, unique pieces linked to the world of work and used in the period of the two war conflicts. Also on display are the works of Faenza’s nursery schools which will bring creations created during educational courses specifically dedicated to cycling to offer alternative points of view on the topic of sustainable mobility and make the young generations participate in this exciting means of transport. The exhibition ‘Faenza, Faïence, bicycles towards the Tour de France’ by Podesta’s Palace, will open to the public Saturday 8 June and will be open to visitors until Sunday 7 July at the following times: from Monday to Friday, from 5.30pm to 8pm; Saturday and Sunday, from 10am to 12.30pm and from 5.30pm to 8pm. Open on the day of the Tour de France stage (Sunday 30 June), from 9am to 12pm. Outside these hours, in the mornings, there will then be the possibility of visiting the exhibition, upon reservation, for school groups and children. groups of children from summer camps.

Official inauguration of the exhibition ‘Faenza, Faïence, bicycles towards the Tour de France’, in the presence of sports champions, representatives of local sporting entities, institutions and sponsors, on Friday 14 June at 6pm. The journalist will currently participate cycling expert, Beppe Conti. The evening will be hosted by Maurizio Marchesi. The Salone dell’Arengo, during the period of the exhibition, will be a container for many events linked to the world of ‘two wheels’. Among these worth mentioning: on Monday 17 June ‘Ask me who was Pantani’ will be presented by Francesco Ceniti who will dialogue with the journalist Alessandra Giardini. Wednesday 19 June will be the time for the screening of Stefano Ferrari’s docufilm entitled ‘La grand depart’ while on Wednesday 26 June Giacomo Pellizzari’s book entitled ‘The Pirate’s Map’ will be presented. Bicycle-related events will also involve the younger public. Thursday 27 June, between 5pm and 9pm, Piazza del Popolo will host the children’s gymkhana on bikes; for the occasion, the stands of the local cycling associations and of the associations that deal with road safety will be set up. The screening of the film ‘Il caso Pantani’ will then be held on Saturday 29 June in the presence of director and producer Domenico Ciolfi and actress and executive producer Monica Camporesi.

For the day of the ‘Cesenatico-Bologna’ stage, Sunday 30 June, the municipal administration involved the five districts to greet the runners during the historic crossing of Faenza. In the city the competitors, coming from Russi, along the Ravegnana provincial road, will travel along Piazzale Sercognani and then take Corso Garibaldi; they will then cross Piazza della Libertà, Piazza del Popolo, Corso Matteotti and after Viale Marconi and Via Firenze they will head towards Brisighella.

The program and times of the initiatives are constantly updated and the various appointments will be communicated from time to time. ‘Faenza, Faïence, bicycles towards the Tour de France’ is organized by the municipal administration of Faenza, the Union of Romagna Faentina and the Faentina Asd cycling society, in collaboration with the Faenza bicycle council; technical partners ‘Apt Emilia-Romagna’, ‘Romagna – La terra della dolce vita’ and with the contribution of Agrentità and ‘BNI Maioliche’.
