In the evocative setting of the club house of the tennis club in Via Laviano in Caserta, the press conference to present the thirty-fifth edition of the “Women’s International Tennis City of Caserta” will be held on Saturday 25 May at 4pm, which will take place from 2 until next June 9th.

This prestigious tournament, which takes place at the Caserta tennis club, will have the COGEPA Trophy and a prize pool of $60,000.00 up for grabs. The organization is already in full swing and the club will be transformed into a real village dedicated to the competition and its protagonists.

Gazebos to shelter from the sun and small wooden houses to welcome visitors and exhibitors are ready to be installed, creating a welcoming and engaging atmosphere.

Meanwhile, reservations for tennis players are increasing on the acceptance list of the ITF Women website. In first place we find the Czech Brenda Fruhvirtova, currently at number 102 in the WTA ranking, followed by the Latvian Darja Semenistaja (122), the Brazilian Laura Pigossi (125) and the Austrian Julia Grabher (143).

Among the Italians, we find Lucrezia Stefanini in 179th place, followed by the finalist of the 2023 edition, the Cypriot Raluca Georgiana Serban (190), defeated in the final by the American Hailey Baptiste with a score of 6-3, 6-2. In the list of participants we also find Anastasia Tikhonova (170), defeated in the semi-final by Baptiste last year.

In the qualifying draw we find old acquaintances from the Caserta tournament such as the French Kristina Mladenovic (220), winner of the 2022 edition of the Caserta internationals, the Greek Despina Papamichail (231) and the Slovenian Dalila Jakupovic (216).

The Caserta tournament is the only $60,000 tournament held in Europe in the week from 3 to 9 June. The Caserta event, together with the tournaments in Grado, Brescia, Roma Antico Tiro a Volo and Cordenons, forms the group of 5 $60,000 tournaments taking place in Italy.

The press conference on Saturday afternoon will be attended by the president of the club, Massimo Rossi, the CEO of Cogepa, Massimo Mazzocchini, the regional president of the Tennis Federation, Virginia Di Caterino, the provincial delegate of CONI of Caserta, Michele De Simone, and the political authorities.

One of the new features of the 2024 edition concerns the final, which will be played on the afternoon of Sunday 9 June. Further details will be revealed during the press conference on Saturday afternoon.
