May 24th marks the third “Lametina Remembrance Day for the innocent victims of ‘Ndrangheta”
This year too the anniversary will be animated by the memory of the innocent victims of organized crime and the ‘Ndrangheta in particular through two moments.
In the morning with the commemoration of the two garbage collectors Francesco Tramonte and Pasquale Cristiano killed on May 24, 1991, at 10 am in the Miraglia district of the former municipality of Sambiase. And in the afternoon, starting from 6pm, with a short and symbolic march led by the volunteers of Trame Festival and the young people of AGESCI, which will start from the area in front of the Court of Piazza della Repubblica and will end in Piazzetta San Domenico.
They will be remembered: Francesco Ferlaino, the first magistrate victim of the ‘Ndrangheta in Calabria killed on 3 July 1975; Giuseppe Bertolami, horticultural entrepreneur kidnapped on 12 October 1983, whose body was never found; Antonio Raffaele Talarico, security guard murdered on 2 September 1988; Francesco Tramonte and Pasquale Cristiano murdered at work at dawn on May 24, 1991; Pietro Bevilacqua, Firefighter, killed in December 1991; the police superintendent Salvatore Aversa and his wife, the teacher Lucia Precenzano, murdered on 4 January 1992; Gennaro Ventura, photographer and retired carabiniere killed on 16 December 1996; Torquato Ciriaco, lawyer, killed on 1 March 2002; Francesco Pagliuso, lawyer, killed in the night between 9 and 10 August 2016.
The “Lametina Remembrance Day of the innocent victims of ‘Ndrangheta” is promoted and organized by the Trame ETS Foundation, the Lamezia Ala Antiracket Association and AGESCI Reventino area, and sponsored by the Municipality of Lamezia Terme.
The aim of the initiative is to keep the memory of the ndrangheta victims and their stories alive, and pass them on to the new generations also through the testimony of family members, with the invitation to make it a moral commitment against addiction to the criminal systems that keep in our territory and all of Calabria.
Citizens are invited to participate.
