Carrara throws open the doors of its artisan workshops

White gold, as it is called, was known throughout the world since Roman times and is still the most fascinating and important raw material for international art and craftsmanship today.

With this historical background, the city of Carrara, which has been home to Biennials and hosts an important Academy of Fine Arts, could not be “ordinary”. 30% of its inhabitants are artists and/or artisans. An important presence, which is felt: anyone who visits Carrara cannot fail to notice the presence of the many artisan workshops that are part of the city fabric and that make up a real street of art, which reaches up to the CAP, the Plastic Arts Center, the new museum of contemporary art, set up in the former Convent of San Francesco, where the works acquired from the International Sculpture Biennials held in Carrara between 1957 and 1973, from the 2006 and 2010 Biennials and from the exhibition “Drawing marble ”.
