The fourth edition of “City in notes” kicks off tomorrow, Wednesday 22 May. The music of places”, the event, conceived and promoted by the Artea Foundation with the Municipality of Cuneo, under the artistic direction of Claudio Carboni assisted by Carlo Maver, which until Monday 27 May will liven up spring with over 30 events that will entertain the most evocative places of the city, highlighting, through music, their great historical and cultural value.
In addition to shows and concerts, “City in notes” will offer workshops and parallel meetings with some of its protagonists and with other musicians and professionals in the sector with a view to training and cultural exchange.
First appointment, Wednesday 22 May, at 6pm, at the Sala Michele Ferrero of Casa Betania, headquarters of Confindustria Cuneo (via Bersezio 9), with the talk “Beyond music. A path of rebirth and metamorphosis” which will feature the Roman singer-songwriter Noemi. The artist, interviewed by Margherita Devalle, will tell the public about her personal and artistic “revolution”, which led her to have greater self-awareness and to engage in various empowerment actions that make her a source of inspiration and figure of reference for the new generations. The meeting is part of the Talk About Music cycle by The Youth Factor, the Artea Foundation project dedicated to young people from secondary schools in Cuneo created to bring them closer to the world of culture through an educational and participatory path, with music as its focus . On the subject of music and image, the common thread of the 2024 edition of the project, we will also talk about Noemi’s relationship with cinema, a long-standing love that was born even before she was a singer. Before the meeting you have a free visit to the private garden of Casa Betania as part of “Note di Verde” in collaboration with the Società Horticola del Piemonte – Festival del Verde.
Later, at 9pm, Noemi will again be the protagonist of an intimate and exciting recital at the Toselli Theatre. Magnetic presence with a unique and biting voice that combines grit and interpretative sensitivity, she will bring to the stage, in an unreleased version on the piano, the songs that have made her one of the most loved Italian voices of all time. Both events starring Noemi are sold out.
At 10.45pm, at the Monumental Complex of San Francesco, the Australian video artist and musician Andrew Quinn, who took care of the digital effects of films such as “The Matrix”, “Tomb Raider”, “Nirvana” and “Vajont”, and who now deals with generative “sound reactive” visuals for music, will be the protagonist together with METS, the Department of Electronic Music of the “GF Ghedini” Conservatory of Cuneo, of an immersive performance of La création du monde by Bernard Parmegiani, an acousmatic masterpiece of the 1984 in which the famous French composer retraces the history of the universe, from the Big Bang to the appearance of life and man. The performance concludes an educational journey lasting several months led by METS teachers Simone Faraci and Gianluca Verlingieri, culminating with a masterclass given by Quinn to Ghedini students. “City in notes” this year conquers new city green spaces with the “Note di Verde” project, created in collaboration with the Società Orticola del Piemonte – Festival del Verde (info and visiting methods on the website https://mappa.festivalverde. it/note-di-verde), and strengthens involvement with the local musical schools and institutions – Ghedini Conservatory of Cuneo, Academia Montis Regalis, Scuola di Alto Perfectionazione Musicale di Saluzzo, IIS Bianchi – Virginio, Insieme Musica, Progetto Har and Voice Art Academy – who with their high quality cultural proposal will find in the event an ideal stage to present the best of the young musical talents of the future. There will also be two flagships of the City of Cuneo’s concert activity: the Bartolomeo Bruni Symphony Orchestra and, for the first time, the City of Cuneo Choral Society.
