The red alert will be triggered again in the next 24 hours in Veneto due to the new wave of bad weather that is preparing to hit all of Northern Italy with strong thunderstorms and storms. Red alert for hydrogeological risk with heavy rain also in Milan and the area of the Seveso and Lambro rivers. The weather bulletin that the Veneto Region is preparing to issue “will certainly be of maximum alert”, warns governor Luca Zaia, who fears further damage in the areas already affected by last week’s flood.
The first rains “could not be problematic if we hadn’t already had a lot of rain – added Zaia – The soil is not able to absorb that water at the moment”. Precipitation of “100 millimeters is expected, which means approximately 10 centimeters of water per square meter”, concludes the governor.

Already on Monday the bad weather made itself felt in the Po Valley: a water bomb hit Pavia, where the firefighters rescued a 74-year-old woman who had remained stuck in her car on a road, in the municipal area of Zavattarello, invaded by water and mud following a landslide. Flooded roads and damage in Vignola and Savignano, in the province of Modena, due to a prolonged storm that affected the two municipalities, but also the Valsamoggia area of Bologna.

Schools will also be closed tomorrow in the area of Valsamoggia, a vast municipality in the Bolognese area on the border with the province of Modena, due to the storm of the last few hours: there were several floods, landslides and roads compromised. The first data, explains the Municipality, estimate around 80 mm of rain falling in three hours, the amount of rain that is expected on average in 3 months. So far there are no injured or missing people while there have been several interventions to help the population.
The storm front will also move towards the Center with a rapid worsening of the weather that will start from Sardinia and move towards Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio, with heavy rains and the risk of hail which could cause sudden flooding and new floods, as happened last week in Lombardy for the Seveso and Lambro rivers, the latter being the first river to exceed its banks due to incessant rain.
