Marano, the Court of Appeal acquits Giovanni Nuvoletta

Arrested and convicted of mafia-type association and other crimes, Giovanni Nuvolettason of Lorenzo, believed to be the boss of the hegemonic Camorra clan of the same name in the area Maranowas today fully acquitted by the Court of Appeal of Naples.

In June 2015 (following an investigation into some activities started in the Milan area) Giovanni Nuvoletta was arrested on the orders of the investigating judge of Naples and at the request of the Neapolitan DDA. A long one followed judicial process, in the context of which the confiscation of assets was also ordered against Nuvoletta. At the outcome of the first degree trial Nuvoletta – defended by the lawyer Alessandro Diddi – was acquitted by the court of Naples North of the crime of mafia-style criminal association, but convicted of the crime of drug trafficking in competition with the Polverino clan.

The court of appeal, before which the prosecutor and the defense had appealed the sentence, had changed the sentence, also affirming the defendant’s responsibility for the crime of mafia-style criminal association. On December 2, 2021, then, the Court of Cassation annulled the appeal sentence, referring the proceedings to another section of the Court of Appeal of Naples, which today definitively acquitted Nuvoletta, defended by the lawyer Alessandro Diddi.
