Flooding and flooding in the province of Bologna but further inconveniences in the rest of Emilia. In the early evening of May 20th it was the Samoggia torrent to create alarm especially a Bazzano and Monteveglio, in the Valsamoggia area. As documented by some videos and photos shared on social media, the heavy rains in the late afternoon swelled the Samoggia, generating a “red alert” hydrometric level as reported by Arpae. The Samoggia exceeded the threshold and the river flooded the streets in various places.
Schools closed in Vignola: provincial road 37 blocked for transit
Schools closed on May 21st as a precaution in Vignola, IN province of Modena, due to the storm hitting the area. From the first checks, in the school premises, they were found damage limited to a few points of the buildings, but given the uncertainty about the progress of an atmospheric phenomenon, the Municipality nevertheless decided to keep the classrooms closed in order to be able to carry out more in-depth checks.
Damage also in Savignano
Also due to bad weather, provincial road 37, on the border with the territory of the province of Bologna, was closed, given the overflowing of several watercourses that affected the roadway. The road will remain closed all night as a precaution. Inconveniences also on the provincial road 4.1 Fondovalle Panaro – branch to Guiglia, in the area of Vignola and Marano sul Panaro. Roads flooded and damage also to Savignano for a
prolonged storm that affected the municipality in the Modena area.
The provinces of Reggio Emilia and Parma are affected
Bad weather with heavy rain Lower Reggiana, particularly in
Rolo area on the border with Modena, where there are problems: roads
flooded, but also lower floors and basements, with the firefighters’ motor pumps calling. Problems too Novellara and Cadelbosco Above. Some critical situations were also reported in the province of Parma, in Fornovo di Taro.
