As part of the celebrations for the 250th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Guardia di Finanza, the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Messina has launched, at a local level, a series of initiatives aimed, among other things, at spreading the education on economic legality and increasing the culture of respect for the rules among young people.
In recent days, the students of the “Enzo Drago” and “Manzoni Dina e Clarenza” comprehensive schools, accompanied by their teachers, visited the “S. Cotugno”, headquarters of the Provincial Command of Messina.
During the meeting, the Peloritan Yellow Flames illustrated to the young students the mission institutions of the Corps and the value of respecting the “rules”, as a common guarantee for civil coexistence and conscious citizenship, as well as on the role of active citizens and, as such, holders of rights and duties.
In this context, the students were illustrated the important role of the Guardia di Finanza in combating tax evasion, the squandering of public money, counterfeiting and the protection of copyright, as well as in the fight against organized crime and to drug dealing, with the aim of creating a moment of reflection on the concept of legality, in general, and economic and financial security, in particular.
The students, showing keen interest and contagious curiosity, also visited part of the new premises of the barracks, recently inaugurated, inside which, among other things, a small “memory corner” was set up, dedicated to the history of the Guard of Finance in the province of Messina.
The morning continued with the exercise of the Corps’ canine units, developed through the simulation of the typical checks carried out at ports, airports and railway stations, significant in the daily commitment to combating drug trafficking and searching for hidden money, allowing, at the same time, to become familiar with the splendid “four-legged” friends.
The initiative testifies, once again, to the social vocation and the constant closeness of the Corps to the world of school and to students, with the aim of stimulating their sensitivity towards legality and making them increasingly active part for a better world.
