The martial arts ‘World Open Championship’ took place over the weekend in Perugia and saw the participation of almost a thousand athletes from various countries. In this context, the Terni team of the Shaolin Kung-Fu Academy of masters Luca Primavera and Alessandro Bufi did not disappoint expectations, achieving five gold, four silver and one bronze in the various specialties. The Terni team was captained by the red belt Giacomo Barbarossa and composed of the athletes Filippo Antolini, Gabriel Castiglione, Angelo Tanas, Jacopo Di Giovanni, Matteo Ranucci, Greta Frattaroli, Nicola Vinciarelli, Giacomo Lombardi, Armando Bianchi, Daniel Vinciarelli, Valentina Lattanzi, Leonardo Aureli and Enzo Di Tella. In the ‘Taolu children’s bare hands’ category, gold went to Vinciarelli and silver to Lombardi. In the ‘Taolu with weapons and bare hands’ Greta Frattaroli won silver in the first race and a gold with ‘bare hands’. The difficulty of the form and the change of category (seniors) weighed on the result of Gabriel Castiglione who came close to the podium in both categories, bare hands and with weapons, then winning a bronze on the sanda. Sunday was completely dedicated to sanda and Leonardo Aureli, just 12 years old, won gold by winning in just 13 seconds. Gold also for Jacopo Di Giovanni who consistently collects first places, showing great maturity in fighting. Angelo Tanas, Marco Ranucci and Enzo Di Tella, in their first meeting, achieved silver with great tenacity and desire to do well. Silver in the women’s sanda also went to Valentina Lattanzi who, despite her leg injury, gave her opponent a hard time. She makes Filippo Antolini dream, in his first full contact match, who achieved a gold medal with everyone’s compliments. Finally, a show of throws and shots for Giacomo Barbarossa in the light sanda, who reached the final – and victorious – against a strong athlete from Azerbaijan: the only defeat for the Azerbaijani team in the Perugia competition.
