PESCARA: FEWER PARKING SPACES IN THE RESULT AREA, “EXASPERATED MERCHANTS” | Current news

PESCARA – “This morning several traders in the city center contacted our association to complain about the loss of numerous parking spaces in the parking lot of the resulting area due to the reclamation of the area itself. The exasperation derives from the fact that the loss of parking spaces adds to the inconveniences that the operators of the city center have been forced to endure for months due to the redevelopment works of Piazza Sacro Cuore and Corso Umberto, as a result of which they have recorded a decline of turnover by forty percent”.

The president of Confcommercio Pescara explains it in a note, Riccardo Padovano, who adds: “With the closure of a good part of the car park in the resulting area, which began this morning, the situation is destined to worsen as customers will be even more dissuaded from going to the center to do shopping, given the difficulties in finding parking already emerged this morning when the owners and employees of the commercial activities themselves struggled to find a place”.

“Added to this is that on Wednesdays there will be even fewer parking spaces considering that the parking area in front of the Bingo is used for the weekly parking of street vendors previously located on the park road. We remind you that, foreseeing the difficult situation that is occurring, our association had asked that in the timetable for the redevelopment of the resulting area, we should first proceed with the construction of the new silos for the covered car parks and, only after the by putting them into operation, it would be possible to begin work on the area of the current level car parks on which the green area is to be built”.

“We ask for urgent intervention from the mayor and the competent councilors to identify an immediate solution in order to avoid further damage to the city’s trade, which has already endured many inconveniences in the last period”, concludes Padovano.
