new connections to tourist destinations, cities of art and villages

The Trenitalia Summer Experience 2024 also starts in Abruzzo, with a series of new features for travellers. From June, 154 regional trains will run every day on Abruzzo’s tracks, with new connections to summer tourist destinations, cities of art and villages.

Strengthening of regional and intermodal services

The regional service includes the return of the most popular summer lines: the Cerrano Line between Pescara and San Benedetto, the Trabocchi Line between Pescara and Termoli and the Aterno Line between Sulmona and L’Aquila. All intermodal services will also be available to reach the historic centers of L’Aquila, Teramo and Avezzano, as well as Abruzzo Airport.

In total, there will be 154 trains per day on weekdays, 130 on Saturdays and 86 on holidays, offering over 36 thousand seats. The Trabocchi Line will offer 22 connections on weekdays and 16 on holidays, with a focus on sustainable mobility and free bike transport.

New trains and bike spaces

The offer includes new generation trains such as Pop and Rock, with greater availability of places for bicycles. The “all-bike” carriages dedicated to two-wheel enthusiasts will offer 64 stalls, increasing the overall capacity to almost 2,100 bike spaces per day.

Enhanced national offer

Throughout the summer, Frecciarossa trains on the Adriatica Line will increase to 26, connecting Abruzzo with Northern and Southern Italy. Furthermore, two new Frecciarossa trains will be available on weekends between Bolzano and Pescara. Giulianova and Vasto San Salvo will see the addition of new connections, with four Frecciarossa trains per day and two further at the weekend until 15 September.

Intermodality and new promotions

The intermodal services, created in collaboration with the main Abruzzo transport operators, will allow you to comfortably reach the main tourist locations and the Abruzzo Airport. The new Trenitalia Regional Family & Friends promotion offers a 20% discount for groups of 3 to 6 people until September 29th.

Stefano Cuzzilla, President of Trenitalia, underlined the importance of the train as a sustainable and inclusive means of transport, while Luigi Corradi, CEO and General Director of Trenitalia, highlighted last year’s excellent performance and the growth expectations for 2024.

“Our summer offer is permeated by sustainability, with investments in a younger fleet and intermodal services that encourage people to leave the car at home,” said Corradi.

With these initiatives, Trenitalia aims to improve the travel experience and promote sustainable tourism, offering efficient and comfortable connections to explore the beauties of Abruzzo and beyond.
