Considering the serious mourning that struck the city of Salerno on May 26th (the death of Matteo Leone, following the tragic accident at work at the Port); Considering that the Municipal Administration, gathering the spontaneous participation of citizens, intends to manifest the city’s pain in a tangible and solemn wayrallying around Matteo’s family and all the relatives of those who died at work;
The Mayor of Naples orders the proclamation of city mourning for the day of May 28th and the display of the flag of the city of Salerno at half-mast on public buildings; Invite on May 28, 2021: to observe a minute of silence and reflection in the workplace at 10.00 amto observe a minute of silence and reflection in schools, where possible at 10.00 am and in any case in the morning;
commercial establishments lower the shutters for 10 minutes, from 10.00 to 10.10; to observe, in places where public entertainment or entertainment events are held, a minute of silence and reflection or, in any case, an appropriate form of remembrance.
“The city’s mourning – writes the mayor of Naples – is a symbolic and necessary gesture to remember that such episodes should never happen. Safety at work must be an indispensable extension for everyone. The municipal administration is saddened by the death of this young man, whose life was cut short in his prime.”
