Healthcare in Umbria: a worrying decline according to ISTAT, says AP

Healthcare in Umbria – A growing number of Umbrian citizens are giving up healthcare services, as highlighted by a recent ISTAT study. This region, once among first in Italy for access to healthcare, it is now fourth from bottom in the national ranking. This decline has been particularly marked in the last five years, during which Umbria has been overtaken by many southern regions. This was written in a note by the Regional Coordinator of Umbria Alternativa Popolare, Candidate for the Presidency of the Umbria Region, the lawyer Avv. Riccardo Corridor.

An even more fact worrying concerns the healthcare mobility of Umbrians, which is more than double the national average (21% versus 10%). This led to a heavy financial imbalance for regional coffers, given that until 2017 arrivals and departures were in balance.

But what caused this change? It seems that an ever-increasing number of Umbrians are forced to give up treatment or, on the contrary, are forced to seek assistance elsewhere. The main cause seems to be the dismantling of some basic services, the endless waiting lists and the flight of many heads and managers.

These results disconcerting they are the sign of the managerial and organizational failure of the healthcare system built by Tesei-Coletto, despite the daily commitment of the 11,000 NHS employees to protect the health of Umbrians.

Riccardo Corridore, regional coordinator of Alternativa Popolare and candidate for president of the Umbria Region, is among those who are taking charge of this situation.
