Salvini in Ferrara: “I am anti-fascist, anti-communist and anti-nascist”

Room packed with people for the arrival of Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini in Ferrara. The goal of the evening? Support Mayor Fabbri’s electoral campaign and present his book Against the wind. Salvini immediately puts his hand forward “it is not a Manzonian treaty”. A book, claims the deputy prime minister, to be given as a gift “to those who don’t think like us. I don’t want to sell 100 thousand copies to members of the Northern League to hear them say well done, it was designed precisely to break down the Gruberian stereotypes about me and my party, if you turn on La7 in the evening it seems that the problem of humanity is the League”. And this is precisely the accusation made against political opponents, who describe the League using stereotypes defined as obsolete: “I am anti-fascist, anti-communist and anti-Nazi but why always continue to look to the past?”

Many topics were touched upon, especially that of the future in Europe. “Why more Italy and less Europe? – Salvini insists – If one wants more Europe there is Renzi’s party. We are not against Europe but the bureaucrats in Brussels are destroying it. Promoting peace does not just mean showing off the flag but it means doing the exact opposite of what Macron and Monti are doing when they say that they do not rule out the possibility that our Italian soldiers will be sent to Ukraine. I say it here and I will say it in the future, there will never be consensus from the League to send a single one of our soldiers to Ukraine. They continually fuel conflicts, I don’t want to leave the third world war to my children.” Then he jokes “Macron and Monti make a nice couple, why don’t they leave together?”

Attention returns to the administrative elections and the deputy prime minister seems to remember with joy the first electoral campaign with Alan Fabbri: “It all began in Bondeno, I remember the exciting electoral campaign in via Emilia – he turns to Fabbri – when you didn’t think of becoming mayor and I am deputy prime minister. You and your team have given a new life to Ferrara. There was a Ferrara before and there is a Ferrara after. During the first inspections in the Gad area, Alan and I were escorted and people were afraid. Seeing children playing now shows how successful this council’s policy has been. When you lose elections it is never the fault of the citizens, it means that whoever governs has done something wrong. I feel comfortable in being able to say that there will be no problems winning the elections, I’m not here tonight to sell smoke, those who chose change were not fooled. Ferrara is no longer at the rear of Emilia-Romagna, I hope that Donald Trump also wins the elections so next year you can have a concert with Bruce and Biden in the name of youth”.

The atmosphere in the room is certainly festive and the feeling is that of heading towards an obvious victory. From the presenter and moderator Rancan to Bergamini no one seems to have any doubts: “There will be no run-off.” The entire League list then takes to the stage together with Salvini. Mayor Fabbri, despite running with his civic party, certainly shows himself to be close to his party, recalling that “the League list represents a lot for me, I remember when I held the first banquets in a small village and people spat on me. Administering a city like this today is an honor for me, years ago it was difficult for anyone to take sides with us and today we have more than 180 people who put their face to it. We have tried to improve the city from every point of view, the latest survey shows that 60% of citizens have chosen for the future what Ferrara represents today. In this electoral campaign I have received many unconstructive personal attacks but you know – laughs Fabbri – the bone structure I have makes me strong.”

The complete list of the list: Nicola Lodi, Cristina Coletti, Pietro Scroccarello, Fabio Felisatti, Francesco Gattus, Stefano Perelli, Martina Laureti, Maria Grazia Cristofori, Jenny Amoroso, Massimiliano Guerzoni, Diego Guida, Dorota Kusiak, Giacomo Caniato, Erika Andreetti, Alessandro Misiani, Antonio Marzanati, Luigi Notarnicola, Beatrice Zaccarini, Paolo Bergonzoni, Evelyn Aghom, Simone Marzocchi, Paolo de Santis, Mauro Ballola, R.
