Relationships and people, the innovative and generative welfare model

ROVIGO – Five intense years of activity in favor of society, carried out with the precious help of the Third Sector and the world of volunteering. A work that must continue over the next five years, through an innovative approach to the management of social policies. This is the result of the event “Relationships and people – For an innovative and generative welfare”, organized by the coalition that supports the mayoral candidate Edoardo Gaffeo.

An appointment that completely filled the Gran Guardia room and which featured, in addition to the mayoral candidate Edoardo Gaffeo, the former Welfare councilor Mirella Zambello, the councilor candidate for the Civic list for Rovigo Alberto Lucchin, the councilor candidate for Il Citizens’ Forum Enrico Buoso but also the participation of Carlo Zagato (Coop. Porto Alegre), Guido Pietropoli (Guarantor of Prisoners), Stefano Siviero (M5S candidate and teacher), Michele Lionello (Association and artistic director Voci per la Libertà), Angelo Maffione (Integrated help desk), the school director Fabio Cusin, the Peter Pan Cooperative (Project leader) and Beatrice Girotto for the CEDRO project (acronym for Comunità EDucanti ROvigo), Roberta Cusin (Antiviolence Centre) and Erika Alberghini (candidate of the Forum – former councilor for associations and equal opportunities).

Mirella Zambello was entrusted with the task of reconstructing, in summary, what were the areas of intervention of the department she managed during the previous administrative experience with Edoardo Gaffeo: we spoke, among other things, of combating marginality through an inclusive approach, support for projects and co-planning between the public and third sector bodies and valorisation of social fragilities.

Representatives from the Third Sector and education who believed in this new generative and innovative approach to support citizens in difficulty took part in the meeting. To talk about marginality and inclusion, Carlo Zagato (Coop. Porto Alegre) made his contribution, drawing attention to the impact that the demographic decline is already having on the territory and the economic, as well as social, consequences that this entails . As regards the projects relating to the prison, the Prisoners’ Guarantor Guido Pietropoli intervened, explaining the situation inside the penitentiary and the activities carried out for post-sentence recovery. The space dedicated to the Peace Table could not be missing, made up of over 30 associations from Rovigo, from which Human Rights Week was born, an event narrated by Michele Lionello (artistic director of Voices for Freedom). Another important moment of the public meeting was the story of the results obtained from the Cedro project (acronym for Comunità Educanti ROvigo), the aim of which was to coordinate a network of entities active in Rovigo in favor of children, young people and families, to educational, cultural and social growth. The headmaster Fabio Cusin and Beatrice Girotto of the Peter Pan Cooperative spoke about it. Finally, narrating the long series of interventions in support of citizens, the former councilor for Equal Opportunities and Associationism Erika Alberghini, candidate councilor for the Citizens’ Forum, spoke and explained the importance of the world of volunteering in supporting social policies implemented by the administration and meeting spaces designed and created to help young people.

The speeches were closed by mayoral candidate Edoardo Gaffeo, who highlighted “the importance of co-planning with the various actors in the area and of the great skills that this large network has made available to citizens to relaunch the area and help the weakest and most difficult sections of the population”.
