Germanà: “Young people are leaving Sicily: here’s how to stop them”

“More Sicily in Europe” is what Senator Nino Germanà claims, highlighting the importance of relaunching infrastructure and transport.

From 2013 to 2022, Sicily saw over 261 thousand young people aged between 18 and 39 leave, as if the population of Agrigento, Ragusa, Trapani and Caltanissetta emigrated in ten years. An alarming figure that Istat reports as growing again since last year. For those who consider politics as a service, it becomes a priority to start growth paths.

Senator Nino Germanàhow to stop this bleeding?

Through development policies that make Sicily a land of opportunities for businesses, focusing on infrastructure, eliminating the cost of insularity which annually exceeds 6 and a half billion. We are already working in this direction, I take as an example the investments of the Ministry of Transport which exceed 28 billion, of which 13 billion for the railway network and more than 15 for roads and motorways. To deal with the drought emergency, the MIT has just allocated 113 and a half million euros for interventions in water distribution networks”.

Why did you run in the European elections? “StI am of the idea that we need to bring more Sicily to Europe. We must look with foresight at the funding that the EU makes available for the most economically fragile areas. The protection of our territory, our identity, our immense heritage and our riches also involves the wise use of European resources”.

A Bridge with Europe is the claim of your communication campaign, why?

It is a work of fundamental importance not only for the South but for Italy and it is a priority of Minister Matteo Salvini who has been able to grasp its enormous potential in terms of development. The Bridge is an attractor of investments, a true multiplier of wealth in all sectors, from transport to tourism, to businesses with enormous consequences for jobs. The effects will bring benefits to the whole of Sicily and the first results can already be seen with dozens and dozens of construction sites
