There are about twenty-four hours left and the city of Cuneo – in the persons of its representatives in the City Council – will publicly lift the veil on the restyling project of Piazza Europa: the specific commission has been convened for 6pm on Thursday 16 May, in the City Council room .
It will be the opportunity – after months of waiting – to finally discover the content of the actual project, probably profoundly modified after the shipwreck of the one including the underground car park. Three dates have already been disregarded by the administration, namely December 2023 and the months of January and April of the current year.
Over 270 thousand euros have already been spent on preliminary designs
The topic was also addressed in the last city council, in which Claudio Bongiovanni (Cuneo Mia) asked the councilor for an update Luca Pellegrino: “The story has been going on for years but in reality it never started – he said – . It would be necessary to understand that there is no longer the incentive to move forward and stop wanting to manage a place that belongs to everyone as if it were owned only by the governing majority”.
In his response, the councilor announced that the Municipality – in preliminary projects and assessments – has already spent 276,626 euros on the issue, and that the technical-economic feasibility study will be presented to the commission, including the 3,300,000 of the Suburbs Call.
“The idea is to use public funds for the redevelopment and own funds for the car park and related services – he added in the Council – . We are defining the interventions to be carried out, which will define the amount of the mortgage that will be necessary to take out. Piazza Europa, for us, is an area that contains green areas, but also a churchyard, therefore a different system from the ‘simple’ green area”.
