Cantieri di Pisa appoints Antonio Luxardo as chief designer

Antonio Luxardo is the new chief designer of Cantieri di Pisa and with Optima Design, founded by Luxardo and Michele Zignego in 2004, he will take care of the engineering of the new projects

Thanks to these partnerships, the shipyard founded in 1945 and now owned by Enrico Gennasio will launch three new ranges of yachts in the coming months

Antonio Luxardo is the new chief designer of Cantieri di Pisa. Born in 1968, graduated in architecture from the University of Genoa, Luxardo is also the founder in 2004 together with Michele Zignego of Optima Design, a company based in La Spezia which will take care of the engineering of all the new projects designed by Cantieri di Pisa.

The new chief designer of Cantieri di Pisa has already collaborated with many of the most important Italian shipyards – including Amer, Baglietto, Benetti, CRN, Italian Sea Group, Perini Navi, Sanlorenzo -, ranging between the most varied types of boats at of size, design, intended use and material, with some forays also into the world of cruise ships and the design of tourist areas and ports. Furthermore, Luxardo has had a professional background with experience in the field of residential architecture and product design.

With Optima Design, which has 30 employees from the yachting, industrial design, automotive and strategic communication sectors, Luxardo has collaborated on over 400 projects, dealing with every single aspect of the creation of boats, from the first concept to the final realization.

“Cantieri di Pisa is a brand that has made the history of Italian boating from the post-war period to today, profoundly changing and innovating the sector, so we start from the desire to respect the DNA of the brand to make the new boats immediately recognisable”, commented Antonio Luxardo, who added: “The new lines of yachts that will be launched shortly represent a combination of the stylistic features and refined lines of the Cantieri di Pisa boats and the most recent results achieved by modern boating in terms of design innovation and technology”.
