“We must reach normal levels in all sectors and in the world of work we must talk about respecting workers’ rights and apply the laws. Only in this way will the Calabrians not go away.”
He said it John Calabrianlabor councilor who spoke at the “Job day for school“, final event of the second edition of the project “Together we create the future”, promoted by the Reggio Calabria Employment Center with the manager Vittorio Colosimo, Sviluppo Lavoro Italia, with the partnership of 9 Reggio schools with around 700 students, together with Confindustria of the province of Reggio Calabria, Order of Labor Consultants of the province of Reggio Calabria, Chamber of Commerce of Reggio Calabria and over 35 companies.
The councilor for employment policies Giovanni Calabres concluding the work of the day organized at Palazzo Alvaro:
“The Istat document published yesterday is, unfortunately, the real photograph of a hardship and just think that in the last three years around 54,000 people have left, a dramatic figure. Continuing with this trend, Calabria will lose again; people don’t go away from the Calabria because it is not beautiful or people don’t live well but because the conditions are lacking to give stability to people, to give them hope of being able to live in this region. There is a cultural problem here that we must all overcome together to achieve normality.”
“Soon – he announces Calabrian – the “job plan” will start with huge community resources for an important orientation and training program for the unemployed Calabrians who will be oriented through the Employment Centres. We must not make the mistake of cascading money to training institutions without producing even one job.” Calabrian also informs that an important notice is already in pre-training with a budget of 35 million euros which gives an incentive not only to employment but also to training which will be managed directly by the companies.
“We must reverse course and this is why, for two years, we and the Department have decided to change our method, we are working closely with trade unions, employers’ organisations, businesses and schools and in particular synergy with the CPI. Active labor policies are bearing fruit also thanks to new Government regulations and precise intervention measures and the Calabria region led by the president Roberto Occhiutowith the new regional law on the labor market, which was missing for 20 years, with the establishment of the regional table, is normalizing the sector and creating real opportunities.
Today is proof that the network between institutions and the business world works and the testimonies of the young people involved who invaded Palazzo Alvaro today hearten me and encourage me even more to continue in this difficult but important role”.
And the appeal to businesses, which has become the leitmotif of Calabrianduring these events, thunders in the conference room:
“We must work to create the conditions so that companies provide certain, less undeclared work, less irregular work, more work contracts. Creating a job is also absolutely important. Why do we always have to solve everything with repression, leaving everything to labor inspectors? Why can’t we understand that the worker must be respected and the worker must be given dignity? Would you want this for your children?”.
“We are facing a moment of total change of direction compared to the past, a lot is still needed, a lot is needed, but I am convinced that thanks to the many interventions and projects that we have launched throughout the regional territory and thanks to the many initiatives that we have built with our Job Center team, which we strengthened last year by hiring five hundred people, the change will happen.

Cama – Director of USR Calabria – territorial area of Reggio Calabria, the school directors of the institutes involved.
All enthusiastic and proactive in building a “virtuous network” that always nourishes the connection between the school system and the job market, in order to be able to achieve a more effective and relevant change within the present territorial context.
