A female deer was attacked and killed by a wolf in the town of Vigo Cavedine.
It all happened at 6.30 am on Wednesday 15 May when the ungulate, probably descending into the valley in search of food, found one or more wolves behind it and immediately ran away. The escape continued to the center of the town of Vigo Cavedine, in via Monte Stivo, where he headed into a dead end and crashed into a gate, desperately trying to open it, but he was now trapped and was attacked and killed.
The owners of the house and the neighbors heard the noises and, looking out the window, witnessed the scene. Some noises made the wolf quickly move away, leaving the beautiful specimen of female deer now lifeless on the ground. The Forestry Service was called and carried out checks and removed the animal’s carcass.
In the Cavedine Valley there have been some packs of wolves present for some time which, in the last year, have already preyed on farmyard and forest animals. As is natural, they go in search of food, but their presence in inhabited centers creates a certain apprehension among citizens.
