The 2024/26 building plan of the University of Bologna provides for new study rooms in Rimini but there are no mentions of the former Cup on the ring road which has long been destined to become the headquarters of the Department of Sciences for the Quality of Life. But the situation could soon be resolved.

The University of Bologna will invest approximately 385 million euros over three years for a program that includes 104 works. This is the 2024-2026 Building Plan which also has, among its objectives, the consolidation of the Multicampus structure. In Forlì, for example, there are plans to strengthen the engineering area near the airport and in Cesena the new headquarters of the Psychology Department while for Rimini and Ravenna there is only talk of new study rooms. Under student students, the only new development in Romagna concerns the former ENAV spaces in Forlì (partly already activated). Causing some concern is the absence of any mention in the building plan of the future of the building in via Circonvallazione Occidentale in Rimini, known as the‘former CUP, which housed (and still, in part, houses) ASL offices and clinics. For some time the property has been destined to become the headquarters of the Department of Sciences for the Quality of Life complete with an operational protocol signed between the Municipality, University and Local Health Authority. However, reassurances are coming from the administration. The ‘school’ (and therefore university) destination for the building has been confirmed. However, the University of Bologna is waiting to know the outcome of a loan requested from the MIUR specifically for the redevelopment of the building. This would be what slowed down the process. Once the resources have been obtained, the layout of the project will be created with university offices and classrooms that will find a home in the former Cup. However, there is no certainty about the timing although the hope is to receive news from the ministry by the summer
