Busy night in Cariati, in the Cosenza area.
A forty-year-old of Brazilian origins barricaded himself in the house, throwing all the furnishings in the apartment out the window before being blocked and arrested by the police on charges of family mistreatment and resisting a public official.
The story began following a request for help received by “112” from the man’s wife who reported that she had been beaten and forced to leave the house with her three minor children.
The same fate befell the woman’s mother who, at that time, also suffered minor injuries.
The soldiers who arrived on site after checking the conditions of the women and the three minors found that the man, in the throes of a presumable fit of madness, was throwing everything out of his home on the second floor of a building.
Moments of tension were experienced among the residents of the neighborhood in fear that the man, now barricaded in his house, could carry out other more dangerous initiatives.
The carabinieri of Cariati and those of the operational and mobile unit of the Territorial Department of Corigliano Rossano, with the coordination of the Prosecutor’s Office of Castrovillari, then intervened by raiding the apartment where the 40-year-old, now out of control, was immobilized with the use of tasers.
Once arrested, the man was taken to prison.
