Hall of the Giants in Padua, at 5pm and 8.30pm, first two events organized by Friends of Music of Padua to celebrate Sergio Balestracci’s 80th birthday. A due tribute to a pioneer in the field of early music Italy, to a great interpreter and scholar, with whom he Friends of Music of Padua they have had the privilege of collaborating for many years.
At 5pmat iopening meetingwill participate the organist and harpsichordist Andrea Banaudi, former artistic director of the Accademia del Santo Spirito in Turin, the musicologist Franco Rossi, former director of the Levi Foundation in Venice, the musicologist Renato Meucci And Paolo Faldi, oboist and flautist, teacher at the Padua Conservatory. All aspects of the very rich will be presented from different angles activity by Sergio Balestracci: from the “phenomenon” instrumentalist of the recorder to the direction of There Harmonic Seasonfrom his very long and uninterrupted teaching activity to his research and revision of a precious heritage of rare scores.
At 8.30 pm concert of the flute ensemble THE NEW SPONGA QUINTETwith the participation of GUIDO BALESTRACCI (viola da gamba) e PIETRO PROSSER (theorbo).
THE NEW SPONGA QUINTET was established in 2022 precisely for the performance and recording of compositions of Venetian musical culture between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries and the concert program, entitled OF BREATH AND STRINGS will present a selection of chansons and madrigals of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.

8.30 pm, at the Church of S. Benedetto, closing event with Sergio Balestracci conducting LA STAGIONE ARMONICA and Carlo Rossi on the organ.
Concert of sacred polyphony, which also includes one of Maestro Balestracci’s “rediscoveries”, the antiphon by Orazio Tarditi, a Camaldolese monk whose music was widely performed throughout the 17th century. The Harmonic Season is an ensemble specialized in Renaissance and Baroque repertoire, and it has behind him a very long experience of collaboration with musicians such as Nigel Rogers, Jordi Savall, Peter Maag, Gianandrea Gavazzeni, Gustav Leonhardt, Riccardo Muti. He has collaborated with prestigious orchestras ehparticipated in the most important festivals and exhibitions in Italy and abroad. You have recorded for RAI, for German, Swiss, French and Belgian radio and television. You have recorded for many record companies. Since 1996 Maestro Sergio Balestracci has been its artistic director.
