Utlac, a record edition for the Lake Como ultra trail has ended

Who said that a “young” running race can’t be a success. Utlac, theultra trail of Lake Comoconfirmed the ambitions of the day before and saw running among the peaks overlooking the waters of Lake Como almost 1000 trail runners.

Two cities, Como and Leccounited by a single race which is divided into three different distances: the 250 kilometer non-ballisata “monstre” which covers the entire circumnavigation of the lake, the 60K, a successful new feature for 2024, and the tried and tested 30 kilometre.

Utlac, record victories for Nava and Trigueros Garrote

Just under 100 registered for the very long race (254 kilometers for more than 12 thousand meters of positive altitude difference), the fastest of all was the Tiranian Daniele Nava who covered the Lecco-Lecco route, running through the Como mountains, passing through Como, before returning to the starting point on the lakeside in 43h24:28, signing the new race record. Big fight for the podium, with Alessandro Roncato who preceded by only 4′ (48h21:46), Emanuele Ludovisithird in 48h25:44.

Silvia Trigueros Garrote she confirmed herself as the queen of Utlac: a new race record also for the Basque athlete who improves her previous record by 8 hours, finishing her effort in 50h43:40. Silver medal for Valentina Michielli in 52h56:29, the Swiss third Denise Zimmermann in 58h48:19.

Utlac, good first place for the 60 kilometers

Welcome to Utlac60, a race that, listening to the various finishers, was missing. From the center of Como, to the lakeside of Lecco, with a route of 64.6 km, with a declared positive difference in altitude of 3580 meters (but in reality it was almost 4000 metres).

The wait for this new creature was great and the sold out, arriving almost a month after departure, testified to this. 400 people took part in the Utlac60, the event that ideally unites the two capitals overlooking the lake along the route.

The roll of honor saw the success of Jonathan Cogliati in 7h23:51, followed by the young Swiss Thomas Besomi (7h34:23) and from the local Moreno Sala (7h39:39). In the women’s category, the triumph goes abroad thanks to the Belgian Dominique Van Mechgelen (8h39:11), second place for Chiara Boggio (8h56:36), third Svetlana Ciobanu (9.14.41).

Utlac, the 30 kilometer race tested

Last but not least the 30K (1870D+), also sold out, which from Bellagio takes the runners back to the center of Lecco, covering the last stretch of the 250 and 60. A race which saw the presence of the mayor of Lecco, Mauro Gattinoni.

Here too there were several top athletes at the start, with success – with track records – going to Dionigi Gianola in 2h43:34. Second place for the Polish, Adrian Bednarek (2h48:27), third Stefano Rota (2h57:17). Victory for the women Irene Saggin in 3h18:06, podium completed by the Frenchwoman Chris Mugnier (3h36:39) and from Lisa Borzani (3h37:09).

Once one edition has closed, we are already thinking about the 2025 edition which will be reconfirmed in its entirety, but which could reserve some innovations, especially in terms of the route!
