Padua, over 6 thousand counterfeit “made in Italy” items seized

The Padua Financial Police seized 6,800 products deemed counterfeit, bearing trademarks of well-known fashion brands, and approximately 300 items of clothing with the indication of “Made in Italy” considered fallacious.

In detail, the operation, conducted by the Green Basques of the Group, originates from a widespread information activity carried out in the provincial territory, which made it possible to identify, in the industrial area of Padua, a wholesaler who marketed fashion accessories, reproducing designs and logos of famous international brands, and clothing items bearing the indication “Made in Italy”.

The packaging methods of the goods believed to be counterfeit and the level of the prices, far lower than those charged on the market, immediately aroused the suspicion of the military, allowing them to proceed with the seizure of 6,825 items.

During the search activities, other items of clothing produced in the People’s Republic of China were identified, which bore the words “Made in Italy” on the labels, reserved for products made entirely in Italy, as the design, planning, manufacturing and packaging are carried out exclusively on Italian territory.

Without prejudice to the fact that, by the principle of presumption of innocence, the guilt in relation to the matter in question will be definitively ascertained only if an irrevocable sentence of conviction occurs, the legal representative of the controlled commercial activity has been reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Padua for the crimes of introduction into the State and trade of products with false signs , sale of industrial products with false signs and receiving stolen goods.

Further investigations are still underway to quantify the turnover and trace the supply channels of the goods. The interventions of the Fiamme Gialle di Padova in the fight against counterfeiting are part of the broader group of institutional tasks carried out by the Guardia di Finanza to protect the market of goods and services, as well as to safeguard industrial and intellectual property, in order to combat any form of abuse and distortion.
