The State Police personnel of the PS Commissariat of Foligno have arrested a 35-year-old Italian citizen, already burdened by numerous police records, for the crime of aggravated theft.
Specifically, the man, after having broken the entrance window of a well-known commercial business in the historic center of Foligno, entered inside, removing the cash register and then trying to escape.
In the event, however, it was noticed by some residents who immediately requested the intervention of the State Police.
The police officers, who arrived on site, found that the man had already left; they then began the search, managing to locate him near the location of the theft.
Subjected to a search, he was found in possession of break-in tools, as well as money, probably stolen shortly before from the cash register of the business.
Accompanied to the police offices, once the dynamics of the episode had been fully reconstructed and the formal documents had been drawn up, the 35-year-old was arrested red-handed on charges of aggravated theft.
At the disposal of the PM on duty, the 35-year-old was immediately sent to prison, awaiting the validation hearing.
The suspect must however be presumed innocent until the final conviction.
The episode confirms the importance of civic sense and timely communications by citizens, who, with the prompt reporting to 112 NUE, contributed significantly to the success of the intervention.
